Flintshire Museums New Archive

Britannia Storage Systems were asked by Flintshire Museum Services to survey their existing museum archive contents and a proposed new archive location and provide working detailed plans of the new premises incorporating all the existing artefacts into the unit.
It was not possible to integrate the existing different sized storage systems, which had been supplied over many years, into an optimised storage layout on mobile bases into the available space and our proposal was, therefore, based on the supply of new equipment.
A common denominator was to ensure that the depth of the shelving proposed would suit the artefacts to be stored.
A proposal on this basis with 95% fully adjustable medium duty shelving and 5% long span shelving which allowed for a 15% expansion of stored goods was put forward and approved.
There was a delay of 10 months during which a new archive unit was acquired.

Due to the delay on the original proposals a very short lead time from inception to completion was specified.
The scheme was designed, approved and installed in 5 weeks to the satisfaction of the customer
Deborah Seymour, Principal Museums Officer offered her appreciation for the manner in which the expanded mobile archive shelving was designed, manufactured and installed within the very limited time scale.
