OUR HISTORY

1982 Formed as Storage Systems and Services Ltd, a division of Kestrel Data Storage & Management Ltd (providers of storage and retrieval services to the hydrocarbon exploration industry) to operate as consultants and managing contractors in the design, supply and installation of storage equipment and associated products. We soon developed a reputation for sound engineering, good design and exemplary customer service in a demanding market.  This forms the backbone of the company's strategy to this day.
1988 Now trading under the name of Britannia Storage Systems Ltd 1988 the company acquired KIMMCO, manufacturers of mobile bases, and in October of that year moved to our present premises at Earls Colne The company strategy was now to manufacture and sell archive mobile bases and distribute shelving products to the UK and selected overseas markets at the same time maintaining ourreputation for quality and customer service.
1989 In June 1989 Britannia Storage Systems (along with BDM and Eurocrate Rentals) were purchased in a management "buy in" and the three companies brought together under the holding company British Data Management.
1992 British Data Management (BDM) became a fully listed company on the London Stock Exchange following a successful flotation.
1995 Britannia Storage Systems acquires Stelstor Systems Ltd. and moved this business to the Earls Colne site.    Stelstor was formed in 1976 as a part of the Stellar Group of companies and manufactured a similar range of products to Britannia.  This represented a significant expansion to Britannia business
1996 Mentmore Abbey plc, specialists in storage and data archive management, acquires BDM and associated companies
1997 New management team recruited to develop greater market awareness of Britannia product range, to further increase the product range and improve levels of customer service.
1998 Launched several new new product ranges, including Ezitrac and Gallery Plus, with significant press coverage of both and an immediate impact on new business. 
1999 Commenced distribution of GSK glass museum cases.
Launched new range of hygiene equipment storage racks.
2000 Successful Management Buyout of Britannia Storage Systems Ltd from Mentmore Abbey plc.  The Buyout also includes KIMMCO and Stelstore Systems Ltd.
2007 Britannia acquires Beacon Display Ltd, based in Loughborough and industry leaders in the manufacture and installation of unitry for the museum, heritage, retail and leisure industries world-wide. This acquisition allows Britannia to offer a much wider range of display solutions.
